ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Hornist
2002 ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Horn Festival
Hosted by Randall E. Faust
ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University held its annual Horn Festival on April 7, 2002.
The ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois Horn Institute - with support from The Illinois Arts Council presented "The ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois Horn Festival 2002.
The featured clinician and soloist was Dr. Andrew Pelletier - the Grand
Prize Winner of the Professional Division of The American Horn
Competition in 2001. Dr. Pelletier is unique in that he was also the winner
of the University Division of The American Horn Competition in 1997- (a
winner in both of those divisions.).
By 2002, Dr. Pelletier had established himself as a soloist, orchestral and
chamber musician, teacher, and studio hornist. However, that was just a
glimpse of what he has been able to do during the following twenty years
since is appearace at the first ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Horn Festival: During the past decade, he
has been the principal hornist of the Michigan Opera Theatre at the
historic Detroit Opera House. He has recorded for MSR Classics,
Cambria Master Classics, Centaur Records, Tone Quest Recordings,
Koch International, and Delos labels. As a member of Southwest
Chamber Music in California he won the 2005 Grammy award for
Best Classical Recording for Small Ensemble. He has premiered
over 50 new works for the horn as a solo voice and over the past
decades he has been a frequent soloist at the Symposia of the
International Horn Society. In 2021, he completed his three-year term
as President of The International Horn Society. Since 2004, he has
served as the Professor of Horn of the College of Musical Arts at
Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Thanks to a Grant by The Illinois Arts Council, the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois
Horn Institute was able to host Dr. Pelletier for a residency during the
days surrounding The First ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois Horn Festival. While he
was at ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University, he presented Master Classes-not
only with ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app students but also with students at Macomb High
School and Elementary Schools. We were honored to have Dr.
Pelletier as the first Guest Artist of
The ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois Horn Festival
