Borgia, Katherine Pawelko, Cecil Tarrant Ex-officio: Alice Robertson, Joan Livingston-Webber The WID committee sponsored a faculty development workshop on Short, Useful Writing Assignments. Alice Robertson and Joan Livingston-Webber led the workshop in April 2006. It was open to both WID and non-WID instructors and covered the following points: A brief review of English 180 goals and assignments An outline of effective ways for students and instructors to use the Writing Center Examples of un-graded, short writing assignments -- enhance students learning of course materials -- reduce the time instructors spend on grading papers The creation of short, useful writing assignments for individual participants WID classes The committee reviewed and approved math departments Math 444 and health sciences EM 305 as WID courses. The committee also reviewed WID courses in political science and psychology, finding them well-deserving of WID status. Doug Huff created a WID course evaluation form that helps to standardize and streamline the WID committees review procedure. The committee began the process of updating and compiling a list of current WID course instructors throughout the university.
