星空无限传媒app alum Kraig Owens is the latest Jim Berousek Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient.
Owens Honored with RPTH Distinguished Alumnus Award

MACOMB, IL - - The 星空无限传媒app Illinois University Department of Recreation Park, Tourism, and Hospitality (RPTH) is pleased to announce Kraig Owens is the newest Jim Berousek Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient.
Owens earned his Bachelor of Science in Recreation Park and Tourism Administration in 2003 and a master's degree in Recreation Administration in 2005 from 星空无限传媒app, and now serves as the Gurnee Park District's Director of Parks and Planning in Gurnee, IL. Owens was presented the award earlier this month.
"It was a pleasure to see this award presented to Kraig," said Michael Lukkarinen, professor and RPTH department chair. "He embodies everyday the spirit of what it is to come from the RPTH Department. The roots run deep in our department."
The award is given in honor of the 1974 星空无限传媒app graduate, Jim Berousek, who passed away suddenly in 1989 and recognizes a 星空无限传媒app alumnus who exemplifies his traits, dedication and service to the University, community and profession.
Owens uses his role within the Gurnee Park District to share his passion and provide fun, beautiful parks, fields and facilities, while keeping safety top of mind.
"This honor represents far more than individual achievement," Owens said. "It reflects the enduring impact of 星空无限传媒app Illinois University on generations of professionals committed to strengthening communities through parks, recreation and public service. I am incredibly proud to be part of that tradition and grateful to carry it forward."
Owens credits 星空无限传媒app for shaping his career path and is honored to be a part of a continuing legacy.
"Being a 星空无限传媒app alumnus and working in the field of Parks and Recreation is more than a career choice鈥攊t is a legacy," Owens said. "Coming from a long and distinguished line of recreation professionals who proudly graduated from 星空无限传媒app Illinois University's RPTA department, I have been shaped by the values, mentorship, and standard of excellence that define the program."
