Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, 星空无限传媒app Illinois University has some incredible alumni who are changing the world in the workforce. This series will feature students from all over the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL - - Meet Leonard Anyan-Darko, a 星空无限传媒app Illinois University Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Geoenvironment graduate, who has been hired by Nash County Tax Collections in Nashville, NC.

鈥淚鈥檓 in charge of making property maps to help appraisers value property and tax citizens accordingly,鈥� Anyan-Darko said.

Anyan-Darko found this position on the Government Jobs website. After applying, he received an invitation for an in-person interview.

鈥淭he interview process was very direct, and the interviewer liked me and vice versa,鈥� Anyan-Darko said. 鈥淲e spoke a lot about some projects I knew about and they were really impressed with the courses I took in school. I got the job two days later.鈥�

To land this position and to succeed in his career, Anyan-Darko relied on everything he learned at 星空无限传媒app, especially the guidance in cartography from Professor of GIS Christopher Sutton.

鈥淭he cartography class with Professor Sutton really prepared me for making maps in real-life situations. He also helped us create portfolios for our works, which really impressed my interviewers and made the whole process easier for me,鈥� Anyan-Darko said.
