Donald J. Tomnitz -- Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer for Dallas-based D.R. Horton (one of the largest homebuilding companies in the U.S.) and who earned his MBA in finance from ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University in 1975 -- is the recipient of ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app's College of Business and Technology 2009-10 CBT Distinguished Alumnus Award.

MACOMB, IL -- ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University's (CBT) is pleased to announce Donald J. Tomnitz as recipient of the 2009-10 CBT Distinguished Alumnus Award. Tomnitz earned his MBA in finance from ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University in 1975. He currently serves as Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer for D.R. Horton (Dallas, TX), one of the largest homebuilding companies in the U.S.

Tomnitz will visit ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app's Macomb campus Monday, April 19, during which he will deliver a presentation at 10 a.m. in Stipes Hall 101. His presentation is open free to ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app faculty, staff and students. ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app and CBT faculty and staff will also recognize his accomplishments at a private luncheon on Monday, April 19.

Prior to serving at the helm of D.R. Horton, Tomnitz served as a vice president of various divisions for the company (1983–1994). In 1994, he was named Vice President – ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Region for D.R. Horton. From July 1996 through November 1998, Tomnitz served as President for D.R. Horton's Homebuilding Division. In January 1998, he was named Executive Vice President, and in November 1998, he was named Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of D.R. Horton.

Tomnitz previously served as a captain in the U.S. Army; as a vice president of RepublicBank of Dallas; and as a vice president of Crow Development Company, a Trammell Crow Company.

Tomnitz earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Westminster College.
