Eligibility

• 30 semester hours earned
• ENG 180 (or trasnfer equivalent) with a grade of C- or better
• College-level Math course (excludes Math competenecy) with a grade of C- or better
• Cumulative and major GPA as follows:
  • Early Childhood Education - 2.0
  • Elementary Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), Middle Level Education, Multilingual, Special Education, PE, Secondary Education in Agriculture, Art, English, French, Math, Science, Spanish - 2.5
  • History - 2.75
  • Completion of two training modules in ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½appOnline and a reflective paper

Application

1. If you haven't already, create an to obtain your IEIN (Illinois Educator Identification Number).

2. Complete the two training modules in

   1. Safety Training: Go to: Tools > Self Registration > Teacher Education Program Safety Training ( Allow 30-45 minutes to complete)

   2. English Language Learner: Go to: Tools > Self Registration > English Language Learners ( Must earn a score of 100% to pass. Allow 3-5 hours to complete)

3. Complete the reflective paper.
   1. Many students will complete this in class during their first semester at ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app. Transfer students may need to complete it independently and submit it to the appropriate department contact (check with your education advisor).
4. Submit the as soon as the above requiremets are complete.

Prior to Acceptance

Applicants must be cleared from searches conducted in the National Sex Offender registry, the Illinois Methamphetamine Manufacturer registry, and the Illinois State Police Child Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth registry.Ìý

If your application is denied, you may request a review by the Selection, Retention, and Appeals Committee.

After Acceptance to TEP

Once admitted to TEP, students are expected to maintain the minimum grade and GPA requirements for all coursework applicable to the degree as outlined in the Undergraduate Catalog, and to demonstrate professional dispositions consistent with TEP expectations and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) regulations.

Candidates are required to provide verification of a completed fingerprint-based background check to each assigned school or agency.

Candidates may be denied participation in field experiences or eligibility for a Professional Educator License if background checks or registry screenings before or after TEP acceptance reveal arrests, convictions, or other findings deemed problematic or inconsistent with educator licensure requirements.
