Establish a Scholarship Through the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Foundation

ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Illinois University is a place for anyone who dreams of an education, regardless of their financial circumstances. The University remains committed to breaking down the financial barriers students - particularly first generation and low-income students - face. With your support, scholarships can continue to provide opportunities to future Leathernecks. A scholarship through the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½app Foundation can be created in three easy steps.

STEP ONE: Determine the type of scholarship you would like to establish:

  • Endowed Scholarships - An endowed scholarship will be awarded in perpetuity. Endowed scholarships are established with a minimum contribution of $25,000. This can be done through a one-time gift or a pledge of up to five years. Once the fund reaches $25,000, it is invested. A scholarship is awarded based on the earnings, with an average annual award of 4% or $1,000 per $25,000 in the endowment. Larger endowments produce larger annual awards to students.
  • Annual Scholarships - Annual scholarships can be established with a minimum outright gift of $5,000, or an annual commitment of $1,000 per year for five years. An annual scholarship is not a permanent fund and is awarded only as long as you (or others) choose to contribute to the scholarship.
  • A Combination of Both - Establish an endowed scholarship through annual donations and a planned gift commitment. The smaller annual donations will start the scholarship immediately, while the endowment will be established through a larger estate contribution. This allows the scholarship to begin immediately and continue in perpetuity.

STEP TWO: Determine who you wish to help:

Sample criteria considerations:

  • Will this scholarship be based on academic achievement?
  • Will financial need be a consideration?
  • Is this scholarship for an entering first year student, or upper division student, or available to a graduate student?
  • Will this scholarship be available to students enrolled in a designated college, department or area of study?
  • Will this scholarship be renewable, or a one-time award?
